The search for the missing masseur who disappeared more than a week ago in the Bahamas has intensified after a manhunt for a suspect who authorities say has fled the country.
Authorities in the United States and Bahamas said the manhunt is on for 28-year-old Richard K. Brown, a graduate of San Diego State University and an attorney with the law firm of Jones Day, according to court records.
Brown and his family, along with the family of the woman who was abducted on April 16, have not been publicly identified.
Brown has not been charged with any crime.
Officials say Brown left the country to avoid a possible extradition hearing.
Investigators are searching for a man they say may be involved in Brown’s disappearance.
“We are continuing to pursue this individual and we are working closely with the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York State Police, the Nassau County Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies,” FBI spokeswoman Melissa Fergus said in a statement.
The suspect has not yet been identified.
Authorities said Brown has been living in the Dominican Republic.
