Recode’s co-founder Kara Swisher, who co-created the company with her husband Nick, said that the prime minister should not have any powers in regards to the UK’s Brexit negotiations.
“She shouldn’t have the authority to sign any trade deal with the United States or Australia or Canada or the EU,” she said.
“I think it’s very important that this prime minister is not given any of those powers.
It’s very concerning.”
She said that there were many things that needed to happen for the UK to be able to make the best possible trade deal.
Swisher also pointed out that Theresa May is not the only one to be affected by the Brexit negotiations, with many other EU countries also holding trade negotiations with the US.
“In many cases, there are many countries that don’t have trade agreements with the UK, but they do have agreements with other countries,” she told Recode.
“Theresa has a deal with Canada.
And Canada has a big trade deal, with the EU.
So, there’s many countries with these deals that are affected by Brexit.”
